Title: windows installer paths Post by ssh on Sep 25th, 2003, 3:17am 4.0 preview still won't resolve problem launching so called windows installer programs (C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\wordicon.exe). |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by TDRWare on Oct 4th, 2003, 5:29pm The office shortcuts are not in the same format as most shortcuts ans they do not get resolved correctly. Idon't have any information on fixing this problem. You can always create a button directly from the executable |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by ssh on Oct 4th, 2003, 7:21pm Yes, of course. And I've done it. But there must be some instructions inside those "icon executables" which finally launch the one. Maybe help on Installshield homepage? |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by TDRWare on Oct 12th, 2003, 7:51pm the special shortcuts are microsoft shortcuts from Microsoft Office. They have nothing to do with Installshield. You will need to change manually for these shortcuts. I'm sorry if that is a problem for you. |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by Blux on Oct 14th, 2003, 4:39am Hello ! I've experimented the same problem in version 3.0.0 but not with an Office shortcut. C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{5C99DE48-C09C-42D3-A79B-FAE140895409}\humicon8.exe The program is a X-windows emulator, called Exceed, and I can't launch the .exe because the shortcut makes a broadcast to all stations at startup to allow me to choose which machine I want to talk with... By adding the quicklaunch icon/shortcut in launchmate and clicking on it, I've no results (no hang, no execution...) but launchmate remains alive, no need to restart :) I've not tried with the 4.0 version. Regards. |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by d_spider on Nov 26th, 2003, 8:04am I'm pretty sure this isn't a LM problem, but it occurs with LM: some of my Launch icons don't launch but instead elicit an error message: " The folder 'C:\|' does not exist. " It's a Windows Explorer box, with the red circle and white X inside it. I cannot find "C:\|" anywhere in my computer (it looks like a typo, but...). The "window" that is the error message contains three invisible characters, a lower-case Y with an umlaut above it and two black vertical bars (imagine squeezing four lower-case Ls together to make one). In the invisible window, these characters appear between "OK" (on the button) and "The folder...does not exist." This same error message has appeared a few times after I typed a command into the "Run" box (of the Start menu). [I'm using Win98se and LM3] Does anyone have any idea. . . ? |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by d_spider on Dec 3rd, 2003, 12:23am Re: the "C:\| does not exist," if I choose "explore" instead of "open" as the action of the button on the properties sheet, the button works, so the path & directory I listed are okay. As I said, I searched my computer for the "C:\|" with the Windows "Find" tool, and I searched my registry with regedit, and "C:\|" doesn't exist. So where does the error-message-box get the "C:\|" from? (I don't believe in poultergeists but I'll try any anti-poultergeist spells you recommend.) |

Title: Re: windows installer paths Post by TDRWare on Dec 14th, 2003, 10:02pm that's odd that explore works and open does not. I wish I could be of more help but I have no idea what is happening. |
